I never knew for sure whether or not I wanted to be a teacher.
I liked kids, and I enjoyed teaching, I had a knack for helping others get motivated and learn. But it wasn’t until I stepped in to my first teaching role, the summer of 2011, where I worked with at risk youth at a summer camp that I knew this is what I wanted to do. And specifically because of them. See growing up - my brother was the “at risk” kid. The one very few took a chance on, and working with those kids, I wanted to change all that. I wanted to be the one who DID take a chance on them.
I graduated in 2013 with my Masters Degree in teaching. And though I haven’t worked in a classroom for the five years, the passion I have in teaching and educating others is still there. Currently I am homeschooling our two oldest kids. It was never my intention to homeschool, but here we are, and surprisingly I love it more than I thought. Yes there are hard days. Yes there are days when I wish I was just mom, and not also teacher mom, and school bus mom, and dance coach mom. But I have loved spending every minute watching my kiddos learn and grow and knowing that I had a hand in their education.
My goal with this space is to continue to educate. To teach. And to help others learn. Whether you are starting out on your own homeschooling journey, or just need help in how to be a better home support to your kids - that’s what I’m here for. I want you to feel empowered, educated, equipped, and ready to take whatever life (and your kids education) throws at you.
So thank you, for allowing me to be a small part in your journey, and your education.
Cheers soul friends, and welcome to your first day of school.
